Coursework: Summer Project 2024

 1) Research: health drink TV adverts

Innocent Drinks

Answer the following questions:

1) What is the unique selling point of the product?

The unique selling point of innocent drinks is to make smoothies that are natural and fresh. This also comes from the logo of the product which has an a small person with a halo (Angel) which connotes pure and this links to the product itself because it is pure natural fruits.

2) What audience do you think this is aimed at? Add as much detail as possible (e.g. demographics, psychographics) and explain why

I think that the target audience for innocent drinks is very diverse because i think that the producers want people to have a more healthy lifestyle rather than  drinking fizzy drinks.I think that the psychographic group for this is surveillence because it has a sense of education for people who want to try a healthy drink.I think that the target age for innocent drinks is between 16-40 year olds. The drink is for both genders because it is just seen as a healthy drink.

3) What do you notice about the technical construction of the advert? Pick out one thing you like about the advert from camerawork, editing, sound or mise-en-scene. You may want to focus on TV advert conventions such as voiceover for example.

The setting of the advert is either set outside or in the garden surrounded by nature which highlights the product. There is high key lighting when the product is shown however it is seen by the sun or lighting in a shop. There are close up shots of the product where the fruit is surrounding it which shows us what the product is made up of.The music and the voiceover is very friendly and calming and reinforces the fact of "innocent".

4) What representations can you find in the advert? This may be representations of people or groups or perhaps the brand itself.

Innocent drinks represent people in a positive way.For example in advert one the character mark helps out people in Uganda by just buying a drink. However this shows that one action can cause help towards people and make life better.Overall the representation of innocent drinks is to produce a healthy drink that only contains pure fruits and no added sugar for people.

Lucozade

1) What is the unique selling point of the product?

The unique selling point of lucozade is that it is a sporty drink and gives u energy when you're about to do a sport because it gives u energy and strength. The product is targeted at athletes who need strength just before a game.

2) What audience do you think this is aimed at? Add as much detail as possible (e.g. demographics, psychographics) and explain why.

I think that lucozade is targeted at sporty people and athletes. This is because the whole drink revolves around sports and helps give energy. The pschographic group for lucozade are people who are sporty, need energy,do a lot of activties.

3) What do you notice about the technical construction of the advert? Pick out one thing you like about the advert from camerawork, editing, sound or mise-en-scene. You may want to focus on TV advert conventions such as voiceover for example.

The music of the advert is upbeat and fast paced and we can see that the boy is vibing to the music and is enjoying himself.the setting of the advert is in a city and there is no high key lighting. The advert is morely representing what lucozade does to you in daily life rather than showing the product itself with no story behind it.The camerawork of the advert is mostly handheld because we can see it when the boy is moving around and the camera is moving around with him in a handheld way.

4) What representations can you find in the advert? This may be representations of people or groups or perhaps the brand itself.

In the advert we can see the representations of people are diverse and the advert subverts stereotypes because of the diverse cast.Lucozade itself is represented as a sporty drink and is used to give energy for everyone but seen as morely used for people who are sporty.

Other health drink adverts

Choose one of the above adverts and answer the following questions:

1) What is the unique selling point of the product?

The unique selling point for vitamin water is that it contains less sugar than fizzy drinks and normal juices as well as it contains less unatural ingredients

2) What audience do you think this is aimed at? Add as much detail as possible (e.g. demographics, psychographics) and explain why.

I think that vitamin water is aimed at everyone but I feel that the target audience is aimed at 16-40 year olds.I feel that this is the perfect target audience because this is the age where most people would want to become more healthier.I also think that vitamin water is very educational and help people cut down on what they drink.

3) What do you notice about the technical construction of the advert? Pick out one thing you like about the advert from camerawork, editing, sound or mise-en-scene. You may want to focus on TV advert conventions such as voiceover for example.

There a lot of medium, long and close up shots during the advert which helps us see the mans body language. Also during when the man drinks the water we can see his movement and the way he acts is changing due to the affect of the drink. The setting of the advert is in a gym and we can see that everyone is warn out however when the man starts dancing people get more happier and join in with him

2) TV advert planning

Plan out the brand of health drink you are going to use along with the narrative and character for your two adverts. You also need to plan elements like the slogan, settings, music and more.

Answer the following TV advert pitch questions with your original idea for health drink TV adverts aimed at teenagers and young adults:

1) What brand of health drink are you going to use? You can use an existing drink

volvic

2) New slogan for the health drink (MUST be original - cannot be existing slogan):

Unlock your inner tastebuds.Imbibe volvic.

3) Main character(s) that will appear in your adverts:

me

4) Narrative: What will happen in your first advert?

Someone wanting to try a new healthy drink that also contains flavour in it aswell as it not having too much added sugar

5) Narrative: What will happen in your second advert?

someone at the gym  and they take a break after working out with the drink that their friend bought

6) Where will you film your adverts? You need a different location for each advert.

home,streets,gym

7) Who will be in your adverts?

me and my friends

8) What music will you use for your adverts? What voiceover will you use and who will you use to record the voiceover? Note: for music you can use existing music tracks.

Friendly music and a voiceover

9) How will your adverts appeal to your 15-30 year old target audience?

Teach them to stay healthy and try something new for once

10) What TV channel and programme would your advert appear during and why? Remember the brief states a mainstream TV channel or streaming service.

BBC on shows that talk about staying healthy and some other channels

3) Statement of Intent

On the same Summer Project blogpost, write the rough first draft of your genuine 300-word Statement of Intent for the adverts you plan to create. The final draft of this document will be submitted to the exam board alongside your TV adverts and is worth 10 marks of the overall 60 marks available.

Guidance is provided by AQA in their NEA Student Booklet

We have also produced a Statement of Intent suggested content document to help you too. You'll need your Greenford Google login to open these documents.

For my coursework i will be using the drink volvic using any flavour. My aim of my advert is to show off how advertising something so much can make a person want to buy a product aswell as how volvic can be seen as a good refreshing drink aswell as having a hint of a flavour to make the drink better for people who are trying to stop having fizzy drinks .i personally think that volvic is a good drink and is very healthy for you.

I plan to meet my brief by a 40-60 second advert which would most likely only be 50 seconds long.My narrative of my first advert will be me scrolling on tiktok and seeing volvic being advertised.I want to start off my advert from this because i think that the more a person sees a product the more they would want to drink it.Also in my advert there will be posters of the product being decribed in depth so that we know what we are buying.I want to include statistics and facts in my advert because it would make people want to buy it more because they know what is in it.I want to involve high key lighting during my advert but also some lowkey lighting in shots if needed.During my advert i will use diegetic and non digetic sound however i will use non digetc sound at the end of my advert when the slogan is shown.one advert will contain me at a park and my second advert will contain me outside and then at shops.

In my advert it will contain me (a black person) and my friends (2  south asian and one white).I think these are good for my advert because it is not just one race. This is because in the word there is a high lack of diversity through people and i think that it should be stopped because it is unfair.Having more than one type of race in my advert will show that volvic is a drink for anyone and everyone aswell as the fact this advert is diverse. However also in my advert there will predominately be more females than male but i hope that the male character in my advert will be able to subvert the fact of my drink volvic is just for females.I believe and know that the drink volvic is a drink for everyone and anyone. My preffered view of my advert is to be how we should try new drinks and release our inner tastebuds.

My target audience is 15-30 year olds.In my advert it contains 3 15 year olds and 1 16 year old.By showing my characters and the meaning of my advert will show everyone how we should try something new insted of having the same drink everyday. Also having something new can be benificial for a person because it make them healthier without them either knowing. Also i think that volvic can change a persons mindset because it is healthy and there are many different flavours that u can try such as strawberry, lemon and much more.Overall i think and believe that volvic is a perfect healthy drink for people
