Radio-On air – heat radio brings the voice of the brand to life with the music soundtrack to your workday.

2) Now go to page 3 of the Media Pack - celebrity focus. What does the page say that Heat offers readers?

3) Now look at page 4 of the Heat Media Pack. What other content does Heat magazine offer its readers aside from celebrity news?

4) Look at page 5. What is Heat magazine's audience profile? Write all the key details of their audience here.

FEMALE/MALE: 90% / 10%
AVG AGE: 37
PROFILE: 52% AGED 15/34 (14% 15-24, 37% 25-34)
SEGMENT:50% ABC1
MARITAL STATUS: 57% MARRIED or living with partner / 43% single

Media language

1) How are the cover lines written to make the audience want to buy the magazine?

The cover lines are written to appeal to the audience because they are big and bold. They are also eye-catching because they tell little details about what is going to be inside the magazine.

2) What are the connotations of the Heat colour scheme on this particular front cover?

The connotations of the Heat colour scheme are eye-catching and appeal towards the readers because red yellow and pink are very bold colours and are the fastest colours to appeal to the human eye.

3) How are images used to create interest in the magazine? Find three reasons for your answer. (E.g. paparazzi images or aspects of mise-en-scene such as props, costume, make-up, body position, facial expression etc.)

Paparazzi is used to create interest in the magazine because it shows how celebrities actually look and act.Images are used to create interest because they show the audience/readers what is going to be in the magazine.

4) What differences can you find between the use of design and typography between Tatler and Heat? List at least three differences and explain the effect on audiences.

In Tatler it speaks a lot about the royal family and fashion,it is also mostly read by upper class posh people. This is very different towards Heat. This is because Heat is more about gossip it is also targeted at everyone but is highly only read by the lower class and middle class audience.

In Tatler there is one centre image which stands out. However in Heat there are many key images and they all appeal towards the audience.

In Tatler it uses serif fonts on the front cover which shows formality. However in Heat serif font is used but there are no capital letters used.

Media representation

1) What type of celebrities appear on the front cover of Heat? List them here.

Liam and cheryl,Harry and Megan,Giovanna

2) How are celebrities represented in Heat? (Positively? Negatively? Reinforcing or challenging stereotypes?)

In Heat celebrities are presented in a very negative way because there are pictures taken without their consent and they are also getting their secrets exposed.

3) How are women represented on the cover of Heat? Think about both images and cover lines here.

Women are represented as very interesting because they give out the most gossip in heat.Such as breakups, drama and fashion scandals.

4) How do Heat and Tatler represent social class? What different social classes can you find in the features and celebrities on the cover? (E.g. middle/upper class / working class)

Heat represents middle and lower class in a normal way because they show the normal life of celebrities when they are not on camera and it shows the true colours of themselves which would make readers feel better about themselves. However in Tatler it is only aimed for the  higher class people who are rich.Tatler speaks a lot about the royal family because they are perfect and they want the readers to be the same level as perfect as the royal family.
