Mise-en-scene:Stranger things opening analysis

 Setting:

At the start of the clip we can see that this is set in a lab because of how the hallway and lift looks.This shows us connotations that this was set in a science lab since the hallways are plain and grey and have no sense of colour.This also shows us that this could be a high level lab which only deals with high level experiments such as changing the appearance of an animal which could be very hazardous.Also we can see that this does not look like any normal science lab since the design and layout is very different to any normal science lab.

Actor placement/movement/expression: 

At the start we can see that the actors movement is very fast paced and that he is running from something.Also we can see that the actors facial expressions is very scared and it looks like they are panicking.The actors movement shows connotations that the actor is running from something deadly.The actors facial expressions shows connotations that the actor is scared and feels like they might be get attacked by the something or someone they are being chased by

Lighting:

Flickering lights,low-key lighting in the lab throughout.The flickering light shows connotations that something bad could happen or to build up suspense in the movie.The low-key lighting shows us that the building could be run down and old but it can also show us that this is not any ordinary type of lab you would find in the city.
