Denotation and connotation-Water aid advert+My own

POINT: The producer of the advert is trying to convey that the young boy needs help and does not have resources for him to survive. We can see this by the title of the ad “dig toilets, not graves,”this quote shows us that this boys country could have gone through some type of natural disaster and that’s why this ad has been made.EVIDENCE:The producer does this by using a close up shot of the little boy and we can see that he is not very happy and he is obviously really sad about something that happened. We can also see that the boy looks very dirty which could tell us that he has not showered in quite a while or had not had access to any water in the past days.EFFECT:This effects the reader because it persuades us to help the little boy so that they can have access to more toilets instead of graves. It also effects sensitive people because it will make them want to help the little boy more because they feel very worried about him and they want him to have a happier and better life.

POINT:The producer of the advert is trying to convey that death can happen any time and you don’t know it.

It also shows us that we should always plan something years or months in advance because we don't know

what will happen next since life is unexpected.EVIDENCE:The producer does this by using a red rose which could sense death and loss.We can also see the phrase “in remembrance” the phrase reminds us of 11/11 when world war 2 ended fully and was used to remember all the soldiers that lost their life in the war.The funeral links this phrase because it reminds us of death.EFFECT:The effect of this ad makes people want to start planning funerals because we do not know what could happen next.It also shows us that even though we can be careful in life something will always happen and we should be prepared for it no matter what.
