The editor introduces the magazine as fabulous and sensational.They also say that it is very accurate to the very richest readers in the country.

2) Now go to page 4 of the Media Pack. Focus on the print magazine (NOT tatler.com - the website). List the key demographic details: age, gender %, ABC1 % (social class), HHI (Household Income), % of those living in London and the South East. What do these demographic details suggest about the average Tatler reader?

The demographics suggest that Tatler aims their content at higher class and middle class people who are more into fashion and like to read about it.

Tatler readers think that fashion is very high key and is very important in society.Tatler readers believe that fashion brings out who you are.They spent £843 on fashion in the past year.

4) Go to page 10. What are the special editions of Tatler that run throughout the year? What does this suggest about the Tatler audience? What about the pyschographic audience group that best fits Tatler?

The special editions that run through Tatler are travel guide,wedding guide,beauty and cosmetics surgery guide,spa guide,watches and jewellery guide and school guide.This suggests that the tatler audience is very highly aimed at what people do in their personal life.

Media language

1) What different examples of typography can you find on the cover of Tatler? What are the connotations of the serif and sans serif fonts?

Tatler uses the serif font as their logo because it is high key,formal and it will stand out.The connotations of the serif font is that it is very classic,well established and is seen as very formal and elegant.The connotations of the sans serif font is that it is very clear,minimal,friendly and modern.

2) How do the cover lines appeal to the Tatler target audience?

Cover lines appeal to the audience because it gives them an idea about what is going on in the magazine.It is also very eye-catching.

3) What are the connotations of the Tatler colour scheme on this particular front cover?

The connotations of the colours pink white and blue on the dress are:pink connotes love nurture and passion,white connotes purity and perfection,blue connotes wisdom and inspiration.

The colour scheme stands out because the dress outshines the background since it is just a simple colour.

4) How is the central image designed to create interest in the magazine? Find three reasons for your answer. (E.g. the model, the mise-en-scene such as props, costume and make-up, body position, facial expression etc.)

The model stands out because of her dress.The colour scheme of her dress is very pastel like and would stand out towards the audience.It is seen as very eye catching and would appeal to readers who like pastel colours who people who like dresses with unique designs.The models make-up is very highlighting and glowing and will stand out to people who are interested in making their make-up look as good as hers.

Representation

1) What celebrities or famous people are mentioned on the cover? Why do you think Tatler put them on the cover?

Emma Weymouth is mentioned on the front cover.She is a British socialite and fashion model she became the first black marchioness in British History.Tatler put her on the cover because people will recognise her for achievements and want to read more about her since she is also into fashion.

2) What do the cover lines suggest about the lifestyle of rich people in the UK?

It shows a range of political ideologies that view certain social orders and hierarchies.it suggests that the lifestyle of people reading Tatler are people who watch the royal family and are interested in members of the aristocracy.

3) Looking at the image and cover lines together, what different groups of people are represented on the cover and how are they represented? (E.g. men/women/rich people/race & ethnicity etc.) 

Rich people are represented as better than everyone else.this is because they have a better connection towards higher class people such as the Royal family,Prime ministers and Members of Parliament.Women are represented as elegant and beautiful and seen as perfect.

4) Are there any stereotypes being reinforced or subverted? How? Why?

A reinforced stereotype is that Women are supposed to look perfect.Their hair should be perfectly done.Their make-up should be flawless with no mistakes.This reinforces stereotypes.

Lower class people because Tatler is aimed at Higher class people.

The special issues suggest that people in Britain (posh people) like to read about spas,surgeries,watches etc because it shows who a person is and what they like to do.

I think that lower class people will be offended by the front cover because it is something that they may not be able to afford.It also shows the lifestyle of rich people which is very different to the lower class.
